Ulsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries Sang-Joon Yoo

Ulsan Port leads the realization of becoming a logistics hub country in Northeast Asia. Welcome to the homepage of Ulsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries. (UROOF)

I am Sang-Joon Yoo, Director General of Ulsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries.

Ensuring a stable supply of commodities and exporting products, Ulsan Port serves as the locomotive, not only for the growth of the city economy, but also for that of the national economy. However, despite its small surface area, Ulsan Port is very crowded with vessel traffic, since tugboats and barges are frequently deployed for the construction of the port and carriers of ship building blocks frequently operate in the area.

Also, since liquid cargo is substantially handled in the Ulsan Port, any accident that occurs during cargo handling or unloading can lead to a huge accident, thus highlighting the importance of the safe management of hazardous substances. As far as environment is concerned, the area’s marine environment is continuously deteriorating due to the converging of industrial complexes on the coast as well as ship operation and fishing activities.

Ulsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries continues its work in addressing such issues.
We support safe unloading, and will do our best to ensure maritime traffic safety by increasing traffic controllers, continuously training sailors and operators, and expanding navigation marks.

Furthermore, we will make sure that the port will fulfill its role in supporting the industrial complex by completing the on-going development of Ulsan New Port appropriately. The timely completion will build the port infrastructure and boost the efficiency of its operation through stable labor-management relations and improved services. Moreover, through continuous and systematic coastal management, we will create a clean and healthy marine environment.

Last but not least, Ulsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries promises that it will work to upgrade the quality of civil administrative services by walking a mile in someone else’s shoes, that is, by taking the perspective of the consumers of our services. We look forward to your continuous interest and support to the Office.

Thank you.
